Summary

This position is located in the Production Management Office, Case Management Section within the Liaison Division.  The Case Management Section is responsible for all incoming and outgoing Egmont requests via the Egmont Secure Web (ESW).  The incumbent is a source of staff support and liaison to organizations seeking to utilize FinCEN resources and to aid in cross-jurisdictional law enforcement investigations.  The position reports to the Section Chief, Case Management Section.

3- Security Clearance: This position has been designated National Security Level III, Critical Sensitive. Applicants must possess a favorably adjudicated Tier 5 level background investigation and have been awarded a Top Secret (TS) clearance. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination. Continued employment with FinCEN is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the Tier 5 level background investigation, the results of which fully meet the FinCEN's special employment criteria. All employees are subject to satisfactory completion of periodic reinvestigation and a continuing life style in conformity with applicable national and FinCEN directives. Any unfavorable information developed during an investigation or other official inquiry may result in termination of employment in accordance with established security policies and procedures. 

As a Case Management Specialist, you will:

  • Plan and carry out work related to requests for FinCEN and Egmont support in advancing law enforcement investigations;
  • Coordinate with Intelligence Division in establishing cases in the Financial Intelligence Repository (FIR), recording, tracking and searching the database on case activities;
  • Disseminate FinCEN reports, advisories, and statistical data, ensuring security and proper execution for tracking and follow up;
  • Provide training to staff on conducting searches using various databases.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as experience:

  • Assisting with recording, tracking, and searching databases on case activities; and
  • Providing customer service to ensure requests meet guidelines; and
  • Assisting with the dissemination of informational reports, advisories and statistical data; and
  • Proper handling of sensitive and classified information.

OR you may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:

  • a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
  • three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
  • a LL.M. (if related);Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
